State-of-the-art setup for the Boris Becker International Tennis Academy
The Boris Becker International Tennis Academy (BBITA) is Europe’s biggest and most important project for young tennis players on their way to a professional career. Mixvoip was there from the beginning and supported the team around the two academy founders in technical matters.
The project and its namesake
With 5.500m2, the world’s biggest indoor tennis court will be built in Hochheim (Germany) by 2024 on a total area of 48.000 m2. At the moment, 21 indoor courts and 18 outdoor courts are created for tennis players from all over the world. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in June 2020, and over a year later, in November 2021, the first tennis hall was personally opened by namesake Boris Becker.
Even more than 20 years after the end of his professional career, Boris Becker is one the most famous tennis players in the world. He won 49 singles matches, 15 doubles matches, and an Olympic gold medal, and he claimed several victories at the famous Grand Slam and Wimbledon tournaments during his 15-year career. As the youngest Wimbledon winner in history, Boris Becker is a great role model for many young talents.
Holistic tennis training on state-of-the-art premises
Boris Becker is not only the namesake of this project but also actively participated in developing the optimal training plan for young talents. The academy, which will be built in the area, will accommodate up to 270 children and young people between 11 and 19 years in the future. The building might not be finished yet, but the students can practice on the courts under professional supervision. All the tennis instructors are trained GPTCA (Global Professional Tennis Coach Association), DOSB/DTB coaches, or state-certified tennis instructors.
Under holistic training concepts, the students receive lessons according to Becker’s model, including video-based analytics and tactics training. Fitness, mental training, and nutritional concepts belong to the package. In addition to the tennis lessons, they receive support from physicians, physiotherapists, dieticians, and yoga instructors. Next to the actual training, the children’s health plays a massive role in the overall concept.
The academy’s slogan is ‚Never stop playing‘
Besides the tennis halls and courts – the Central Court has a spectator capacity of up to 3000 people – a school will be built in the area, as well as accommodation for relatives, a 4-star hotel, a fitness center, an indoor pool, a restaurant, and the worldwide first Boris Becker Museum.
Mixvoip’s contribution to the technical setup
While the location and the coaches are vital for the BBITA, communication, and security are also crucial to realize a project of this size. Mixvoip advises the BBITA on all aspects concerning these topics. The telephone connection of the site, a redundant connection to the internet via two independent high-performance fiber optic cables, and a high-performance network structure extending over the entire site have already been implemented. In addition, the site is fully equipped with Wi-Fi so that staff, players, and guests can expect optimal access to the Internet everywhere.
Many of the courts are equipped with the Wingfield camera system, which enables the targeted recording of a player in a match or training session and serves to analyze his performance. In addition, an area-wide video surveillance system is being created for the facility’s safety, staff, and players.
The first hall is already fully functional, thanks to Mixvoip’s help. The installation of the outdoor facilities is underway, and two other large buildings are currently under construction: a hotel and boarding school, as well as Hall 3. We look forward to continuing to accompany this fantastic and exciting project in the coming years.
